Absolutely! This stage is crucial for ensuring the well-being of the proposed ward. The court appoints an investigator or guardian ad litem, who acts as a neutral party. They conduct interviews with the proposed ward, family members, caregivers, and even professionals involved in their care.
“The investigator’s role is to paint a comprehensive picture of the individual’s needs and capabilities,” Ted explains.
“They assess the living environment, review medical records, and may even recommend psychological evaluations. Their findings are presented in a detailed report to the court, helping the judge make an informed decision.”
